After the Navy, I did what I would've done had I not joined up: I embarked on a construction career. I've been a surveyor, a soil and materials test technician, a soils laboratory manager, and now, a construction inspector. I'll retire when I get tired of it--ok, I finally got tired of it! Retired now and writing. Assuming ultimate success, I must thank the late (and sorely missed) Mrs Steen.

I've been a biker--long distance m/c touring--and have over 300k miles on various motorcycles. I'm a hot rodder and an old car enthusiast, with never enough money to do it right. I played amateur ice hockey for 15 years. I still ice skate occasionally.

Jerome Broderson, whom I considered my best friend in school, and I had several interesting adventures. We double dated a number of times, he with Joyce Vold and I with Linda Kanz.

Although I've always been a reader, I could never get behind the idea of spending a lot of time learning English, composition and grammar. As was the case in many of my classes, I tended to slough it off and do just enough work to pass. That ended in my Senior year with Mrs Steen's class. I don't recall exactly what she did to turn me around, but it worked.

What few college classes I've taken since were in composition and literature, largely. Since graduation from Central. I'm rarely seen without a book on my person, and am reading almost anytime I can take a minute or two. I try to find time to do a little writing, as ideas present themselves.
