After nearly 40 years of barely touching the keys, last year I restarted my music career here in Naples, FL. This year, I have booked more than 50 "gigs," either as a solo piano player/vocalist or with one of my bands, "The Lois Kehoe Trio," or with my larger group, "Lois & the Guys." I also play every month with another trio and also with a large jazz jammers group. I'm meeting lots of new and very talented musicians who have retired to Naples, many who have played for famous performers - Sinatra, etc. We mostly play at private country clubs or large, private retirement communities. I've booked a few restaurants/lounges, but really prefer the private, more intimate venues. I'm having a ball!

I was so sorry to hear about Shannon's passing. We first met in the early 50's when we were both singing on the Saturday morning radio show sponsored by Cox's Bakery. She was just the sweetest girl, cute as a bug's ear, and such a talented singer and dancer. Shannon's mom was just the neatest lady. She always sewed Shannon the greatest costumes for her many, many dance recitals, etc.
Shannon and I really became friends when we both started attending Valley Junior HIgh School. I frequently played the piano for her when she was asked to entertain at various school or communities. Later on, we wereoften invited to sing at the same events, so in addition to our individual tunes, we sang a few duets. "Good News" was our favorite! We would usually rehearse at her house and her mom, who was an excellent piano player, would give us some coaching and fix us delicious snacks. Her mom was about as big as a minute and just the nicest lady.

It was just a treat to see Shannon at out 50th reunion. We had a chance to reminisce a bit and also to talk about where our lives had taken us since "the old days." I knew Shannon's husband, Marlowe, from our days in the early 60's when we both were part of "John Stone and the Pebble's" band. Marlowe was the talented piano player "Pebble" and just a tremendously funny guy. I was the vocal "Pebble." Some years later, when I learned that Marlowe and Shannon had married, I was so excited to see that two such neat, talented people had found each other.

I know that Shannon will be remembered fondly and missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was just the nicest, nicest person.

My deepest condolences to Kelly and all the family.
