Jon Andrew Aaker, 69, passed away Thursday July 19, 2012 surrounded by those who loved him.

Jon was born at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on June 29, 1943, the son Harlan and Constance (Maristuen) Aaker.

He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1961. As a young man, Jon worked along side his father drilling wells for area farmers. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966.

Jon worked for American Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro, ND as an electrician and boiler-house technician. Jon "Lars" later worked in auto sales at the Chrysler Center and then at Rydell Chevrolet for several years until he retired due to illness. He had a great love for cars and enjoyed all the people he met as a salesman.

Jon was born into a very musical family and played guitar and banjo. He loved fishing and hunting and was an excellent marksman. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched by his kind and gentle ways.

Jon is survived by his wife Terry Nelson-Aaker, brothers Thomas Aaker, Lanny Aaker, sister Conni Jo (Harold) Wolfe all of Grand Forks, brothers-in-law Michael, Joel, and Roger Nelson, sisters-in-law Kimberly DesJarlais and Sheila Nelson, daughter Christy Biermann, stepchildren Christopher Halvorson, Casey (Melissa) Halvorson, and Kelli Nelson, grandchildren Christian Pagnac, Jacob Schumer, Andrew Hangsleben, Olivia "Maggie", Ella, and Alexander Halvorson, Elijah Jon Nelson, and several nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Paul Cannon, his brother Leroy Aaker, and several aunts and uncles.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Tuesday, July 24, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church 1616 S. 17th St. Grand Forks.

VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service at the church.
